Welcome to Intermediate Training

This guide is designed to help you elevate your dog's training to the next level. Enhancing basic manners while developing new skills, Intermediate training will improve the bond with your dog as you learn how to further negotiate life together.

Remember, consistency, patience, playfulness and compassion are the guiding principles of positive reinforcement training.

Proofing

In Intermediate, we build on the foundation of beginner class by Proofing behaviors. To understand why Proofing is important you must first understand how dogs think. Dogs are not able to generalize well, meaning, just because your dog can Sit on cue in the kitchen does not mean he will be able to do the same thing in a public space, unless we Proof it.

The 4Ds

Proofing involves practicing established behaviors in Diverse situations when Distractions are present and some cases at a Distance and to be held for a long period of Duration.

Each week we will be adding a D to our training. By building the four Ds we are giving our dogs the right tools they will need to be successful in the real world.
